For MW and UP. An apology.

Look, I know…I know I messed up big time. I wish I didn’t threaten anyone. But in a way…I did /want/ to leave. Not because of you, oh no, but the place was getting old to me, and I was no longer interested in the politics of the MarioWiki and Userpedia, its operations, the constant troll attacks…I coudln’t handle that. There was a personal reason as well…that being that, well, the community CONSUMED me. Almost every piece of free time I had was dedicated to me sitting in a chatroom or idly expanding my page or etc. And it caused me more than a few dilemmas in RL. …I might not have been in the best frame of mind even before it all went down, but what I did, even if just threats, was unforgivable. But me leaving was for the best. Even then when I was making those threats, I regretted it. I was destroying my life there. On purpose. And I was shamed at what I had said. So to cause people no further trouble, I just up and left, just like that. I banned myself on Userpedia, the chatroom, and even requested account deletion on the MWF. I was gone, and so too people’s positive perspective of me.

And yet, there are people who DO find it in their hearts to forgive me, it shows me how true friendship can be. I’m sure you know I still talk with Daniels, RAP, Shroobario, CT and even Dman on occasion. Not to mention Stoob via email. All of them, and you, while disappointed in me, could still call me a friend, could still talk to me. And I thank you all for that.

But now that I’m essentially gone from the place, I at least want to let people know that I’m sorry. I never really dismissed them all as just ‘people on the internet’, it was just a mood. A mood that spelled my own ‘downfall’ as it were. They may have lost their respect for me, but I at least want to properly leave the place on a clean slate. I’ll be posting this to my blog, and I’m counting on you Chris, and the three others I CCed, to let them know I’m sorry I acted like an asshole that day. I did want to leave eventually, but not like this.

…and yes, I will be popping into #meep occasionally.

Userpedia. Mario Wiki. Yeah. I know some of you guys read this.

There is a certain point that some of us as human beings can tolerate until we just lose it. I can say with absolute certainty that I have crossed that point. Most of your personalities can get on my nerves. Despite that, I used to love being there to watch over you guys. The Userpedia was fun to edit, and I loved to craft that history with you guys. It was a period in my life that, although racked with problems (the Maria attacks, SoRo, BHS sometimes) I will forever remember as being some of my happiest.

But all good things must come to an end. I’m relieving my duties as chatroom Operator and Userpedia Bureaucrat, as well as General Discussion mod on the MW forum and leaving permanently.

Every rose has its thorns.

Just a few minutes ago some of you might have seen a huge spam of posts from me, duplicate posts…because I just imported my LiveJournal posts back to my Wordpress blog, I still needs it – feel free to comment on my posts here still, but it would bring a grin to my face if you would either comment to my posts there on the Wordpress blog (http://psyche.adriels.com/) or even on Friendfeed (http://www.friendfeed.com/neurario), or anywhere else that works with Backtype Connect.

Kubuntu and Windows, sitting in a tree

…sorry about that.

I’ve started working on customising my Kubuntu install, as well as uninstalling some Windows apps I don’t need anymore. I expect that when I’m done, my Windows install will be much smaller, and the Linux disk image will be dominating the hard drive. It’s just a thought I had, because I’ve been using Windows less and less, and I bet I’ll really only be using it for gaming and working. There are just some things I can’t live without.

Dual-booting

Yup, I set up a dualboot with Windows and Kubuntu 9.04. So far I’m enjoying the new interface – and thank god for Wubi! The last time I tried installing Ubuntu, I royally screwed up the boot process  and couldn’t access Windows anymore…because I still have a lot of Windows stuff I need, like music and videos and…stuff

There are still a few things that keep crashing occasionally (for example I tried installing Adobe AIR and running Twhirl, my twitter client of choice…that didn’t go too well ^_^;

Enjoying it, though. Kubuntu is likely to become my desktop of choice, and if I can get it all set up properly, Windows will really only be my work/gaming desktop…yay WINE. :3

Is a subdomain really necessary?

I think I’m starting to consider moving my blog back to LiveJournal after all these years. Why? Why does my site feel kind of unnecessary?

One of the reasons, I guess, is the blog system I use. Wordpress is great and all, but it has way too many options for a simple blogger like myself. Although I gotta say I love its extensibility. (I use Advanced Category Excluder a lot – to hide all my ‘whine’ posts from the main page. )

Maybe my subdomain is more of a testing site now, and I don’t mind not having things as customizable. After all, I suppose I might be just wasting time playing with addons for my blog instead of blogging.

So believe it or not, I’m gonna move the blog to LiveJournal. I’ll be updating there a lot more. (Maybe I can get a plugin HERE to grab posts from there…)
